The Centre for Enterprise bridges the gap between small firms and leading edge knowledge. We make the best academic research and thinking accessible to businesses; and specialise in hands on support to help companies and entrepreneurs grow and flourish.

We are well known for making research useful in practice: helping owner-managers to be better leaders and to overcome barriers to company growth. We have particular expertise in the fields of:

  • Women in business
  • Business learning
  • Sustainable business
  • Social enterprise
  • Innovation

The Centre for Enterprise packages global research into local programmes to practically support North West entrepreneurs. We have already worked with over 1000 businesses in the region and a  number of our programmes are fully funded.

We are delighted to be a long-term sponsor of this event which is a fabulous regional showcase of female talent and ambition. The opportunity for us to engage with women entrepreneurs is sensational.

This event originally came from an idea that I had back in February 2010 and here we are again 7 years later!

Since the first event I’ve helped over 2000 local businesses, social enterprises and charities to use their passion and purpose to make more money, free more time, and make a bigger positive impact. For example, I’ve helped  organisations to win over £160 million of public sector contracts; achieve higher growth than they thought possible; and owners/directors free more time to spend with the people that matter doing things they enjoy. Alongside this I’ve helped charities, budding social entrepreneurs and enterprising communities to take their ideas and make them happen, diversifying their income along the way.

As such I was absolutely thrilled to be recognised through the Enterprise Support Champion award and by being named as a Maserati 100.

Being passionate about giving back I serve in a wide range of roles including as a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater Manchester; Member of the CVLS Honours Committee; Big Venture Challenge Judge and LGBT Cancer Support Charity Trustee. And my entrepreneurial journey has taken me to places I never dreamt I would see from the inside including Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing Street, the House of Lords and the European Commission.

Marmalade Toast is an award winning Visual Agency based in Lancashire.

We help turn browsers into buyers and the curious into clients

We are specialists in Video Production, Photography, Illustration, Motion Graphics, Animation, Infographics and Vlogs.

Kate Vincent, our Director ‘served her time’ in the TV industry and lecturing. Kate saw a gap in the market for a London quality production company with Blackburn prices! She felt strongly, (and still does), that good quality imagery, be it moving or still, is creativity worthy of investment but doesn’t need to break the bank.

Kate has been lucky enough to work all over the world with Marmalade Toast and although her children keep her closer to home these days, she’s managed to station Marmalade Toast peeps in places from London to Newcastle!

8 years later, a cool new rebrand, a wedding, two children and a couple of awards and Kate is happier than ever!

We’ve met some amazing people along the way and are enjoying every minute.
